The short version
- PLA — easiest to print, sharp detail, cheap. Weak in heat/sun. Great for indoor, decorative and prototype prints.
- PETG — tough, weather-resistant, still fairly easy. The best all-rounder for functional parts.
- ABS / ASA — heat- and impact-resistant (ASA adds UV resistance). Harder to print (needs an enclosure). For automotive/outdoor/mechanical.
- TPU — flexible and rubbery. For phone cases, gaskets, grips, straps. Prints slow.
