Mileage Reimbursement Calculator
Work out your mileage reimbursement or expense claim from the distance, the number of trips and your rate per mile. Tick round trip and it doubles the distance for you. Enter the rate that applies to you (these are set yearly and vary by country and purpose). Updates as you type.
How it works
total miles = distance × trips × (round trip ? 2 : 1)
reimbursement = total miles × rate per mile
- Enter your current rate — standard mileage rates change every year and differ by country and purpose (business, medical, charity).
- Keep a mileage log — dates, distances and purpose — if you’ll claim it.
- Round trip doubles the one-way distance per trip automatically.
An educational estimate. Mileage rates and eligibility rules are set by your tax authority or employer and change over time. Not tax advice.
FAQ
How is mileage reimbursement calculated?
Multiply the total miles driven for the qualifying purpose by the applicable rate per mile. For 1,000 miles at $0.67 per mile, that is 1,000 × 0.67 = $670. This calculator multiplies your per-trip distance by the number of trips (doubling it for round trips) and then by your rate.
What mileage rate should I use?
Use the current rate that applies to you — standard business mileage rates are set each year and differ by country and by purpose (business, medical, charity). Because these change annually, this calculator lets you enter the exact rate rather than assuming one, so your result is always accurate. Check your tax authority or employer policy for the current figure.
Does this handle round trips?
Yes. Tick "round trip" and the calculator doubles your one-way distance for each trip, so you do not have to. Leave it unticked if you have already entered the full distance.
Can I use this for a tax deduction?
You can use it to estimate a standard-mileage deduction or an expense claim, but keep a proper mileage log (dates, distances, purpose) and follow your tax authority’s rules. This is an estimate, not tax advice.
