Running Pace Calculator
Enter how far you ran and how long it took to get your pace (per mile and per kilometre), your speed, and projected finish times for a 5K, 10K, half and full marathon at that pace. Great for planning training runs and race goals. Updates as you type.
How pace works
Pace is time per unit of distance — minutes per mile or per kilometre. It's the number runners use because it's easy to hold during a run: if your goal is a sub-25-minute 5K, you need to keep under 5:00 per km. Speed (mph or km/h) is the same information the other way round — distance per hour.
FAQ
How do I calculate my running pace?
Divide your time by your distance. Enter both here and the tool shows your pace per kilometre and per mile, plus your speed in km/h and mph. For example 5 km in 27:30 is a 5:30/km pace.
What pace do I need for a sub-2-hour half marathon?
About 5:41 per kilometre (9:09 per mile). Enter 21.1 km and your goal time to see the exact pace, or set your pace and read off the projected finish times.
What is the difference between pace and speed?
Pace is time per distance (minutes per km/mile) — lower is faster. Speed is distance per time (km/h or mph) — higher is faster. The tool shows both from the same run.
Are the race finish times accurate?
They assume you hold the entered pace evenly for the whole distance, so they are an ideal projection. Real races slow over longer distances, so treat the marathon estimate as a best case.
